Canada goose turning it's egg.

The largest snapping turtle that I've seen.

On the left is a Red-tailed hawk and on the right, is a Great Blue Heron. During the winter the hawk had used the nest and was trying to reclaim it. The heron were up in arms, yelling and screaming at the hawk. The hawk sat there just ignoring them. After a while, the hawk gave up and flew away. Normally, you don't hear a sound from an adult heron.

The herons like their nests to be high up in a tree without any tall tree nearby. They also like the next to be above or very close to water.

A garter snake

Proof that beavers have been here.

On warm days, the turtle like to line up and sun themselves.

A pair of bufflehead ducks. They dive into the water repeatedly when searching for food.

On weekends during the summer, there are a lot of fishermen.

But I think they catch a lot more branches than fish.

We usually get to see a Great Egret too.

The trail go right past this tree. the hawk sat there while we walked within 15 feet of it.

A few birds in the tree.

Often there are Mute swans.
