Cucumber Gap Trail,
Great Smoky Mountains National Park, August 2004

The trail we actually took is the Cucumber Gap trail and then returned by the Little River trail. It is near Elkmont, about 5.5 miles long, and is somewhat steep for the first mile and half.

The trails are pretty dark from the heavy tree cover. All of a sudden we came across this downed log with florescent green moss on it.

They have lots of snails in the  Smokies.

And mushrooms!
