9 Mile Canyon is a misnomer. The canyon is really about 40 miles long. It is
known for its rock art. The guide brochure we got was horrible. Each place to visit
was indicated by the distance from the last location. Well, the
locations were out of order in the guide. Half way through the trip, we found
the location that they described first. We just drove slowly and watched for the
rock art. It's a nice drive along a good dirt road.
There is a picnic area where a small town once stood.
This is some of the farming equipment they use.
And now for the rock art.
Note the bullet and shotgun chips.
We drove over 30 miles of the canyon and decided to come back since we had a lot
more driving to do that day. Of course, we missed the best panel which is
located at the end of the canyon. However, may of the best panels are off the
road on private property. |
