Capitol
Reef is a large National Park in south central Utah. The popular features in the
park are the spectacular views of red rock, Indian Petroglyphs, and a early
1900's Mormon settlement.
The Colorado Plateau has the best visibility in the lower 48 states. The average summer visual range is 145 miles (235 kilometers) at Capitol Reef. Compare this to 9 miles in the Ohio River Valley!
I think it should be called Red Reef instead of Capital Reef.
The Castle
The Fruita Schoolhouse was built in 1896 and used until 1941. It is a one room building and up to eight grades were taught in it at one time.
The Building was locked but we snuck some pictures through the window.
Torrey,
the town nearest the park, has very few restaurants but they do have a gourmet restaurant. They served some appetizers that earned them their name.
