We had nothing but trouble flying to Yellowstone. Our flight to Chicago was delayed 3 hours. A thunderstorm near Chicago closed a runway (or so we were told).
When we got to Chicago, the plane had already left with Eric. They booked us on a flight to Dallas (then Jackson Hole, WY). When we got to the gate, that plane was an hour late
which meant that we would arrive in Dallas about an 1/2 hour after our flight to Jackson Hole had left). This agent
was real nice and got us a flight to Salt Lake City and then on a Delta commuter flight to Jackson.
But we had to go to the Delta counter and confirm the ticket and get our bags transferred to the new flights. Meanwhile, we called the hotel and said we would be late and they responded,
"Who are you?" Our guaranteed, confirm reservations weren't very guaranteed anymore.
There went our family suite. Also, the car rental place closes at 11:30 PM and that's when we are
supposed to arrive now. Eric doesn't want to get the car because they want at least $20 more per day
for drivers under 25. We were in O'Hare for 5 hours and spent 4 hours running around (in teams)
trying to get everything done! We did get a $20 (apiece) meal voucher that we used!
We got 1st class seats on the flight to Salt Lake City. Very roomy and a nice meal! This is the way to fly!
Several hours later and now at Salt Lake City, it looks like we are going to make the flight
to Jackson Hole! We now have hotel rooms too! Our agent booked the rooms through Holiday Inn
corporate and they made them for June, not July. We made it to the flight for Jackson on a 50 passenger
prop plane. We arrived in Jackson around 11:35. Hertz was nice and gave the car to Eric.
They were still open and we sign up some more drivers.
Now we're off for our 2.5 hour drive to West Yellowstone. Just what you want to
do after traveling for 18 hours is drive mountain roads with wildlife crossing the road.

We arrive at the motel, West Yellowstone Conf. Hotel Holiday Inn SunSpree
Resort, at around
3:30 AM (6:30 AM Detroit time) and got 3 executive suites for the price we were supposed to pay for the family suite.
Two of the rooms have Jacuzzis and the third is a smoking room (which made Eric happy).
Every time we went to the front desk, they would do a double take when looking at the
computer readout for our room. It's a real nice hotel and we highly recommend
it. It has nice rooms, good, friendly help, and is close to the entrance to the park.

Here's a few of the ticket stubs that we collected on the trip. We were supposed to have eight.
