Books

Rating Book
Day and Overnight Hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park by Johnny Molloy, 121 pages with index. Describes 33 day hikes and 11 overnight hikes. Pretty good trail descriptions. Book is aimed to hikers in very good shape.
Exploring the Smokies (or you can try Amazon) by Rose Houk, 123 pages, no index. Nice book with sections covering each area.

Great Smoky Mountains Photographer's Guide by Nye Simmons and Bill Campbell, 128 pages. A good book with lots of information on the park. Again, don't be intimidated by photography in the title. Books like this typically include much more information about the park that other guides do. Has lots of great photographs. The book isn't widely distributed. You won't find it at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

Moon Handbooks Smoky Mountains by Mike Signalas and Jeff Bradley, 208 pages, index. Book cover the Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and other towns near the Smokies including hotels, restaurants, attractions, and shopping. Unfortunately, it doesn't cover the park in enough detail. If you plan on spending equal times in the parks and attractions than this book is for you.
